From the streets of Cabramatta to the optometry coach Australian practice owners trust with their freedom.

Coffs Harbour for the first job. The maths did not work. After a year and racking up $25,000 in personal debt, it was not what optometry had been sold as. Back to Sydney. Locumed for twelve months. Watched practice owners up close. Saw what worked. Saw what did not. Started planning. In 2008, with less than $25,000 to my name, in the thick of the GFC, I opened a practice in one of the suburbs I had grown up in. thinking of it was pretty crazy as the interest rate for the business loan was over 10% p/a and repayment every month were over $10,000 p/m.

Seven years later, the loans were paid off. Took the team to Las Vegas to celebrate. That should have been the end of the story too. It was not. In 2015, opened a second practice with two partners. I made poor calls. Let my partners down in ways that took real time to repair. Sold my share. The partnership strained. The friendships nearly broke. In 2016, a major health fund audit hit hard, 5 health fund audits in a span of 4 weeks. The drive disappeared. I then chased a side hustle on Amazon looking for a way out. The numbers worked. The fulfillment did not. From the outside, it looked like I had made it. Profitable practice. Good team. House. Family. From the inside, it was a different story.
That was the moment.
Four pillars. Simple to name. Everything in the execution.
My clients do.
